Sister Doris Gagnon p.m. has been assigned by the Nashua Deanery since 1976 to provide Roman Catholic Chaplain Services to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and three area nursing homes. The responsibilities of this position are to provide Catholic patients and residents of these facilities an extension of those services available within the Nashua Deanery.

Among the many ministerial duties of her position are included:

visitation of all Catholic persons who desire psychological, emotional and spiritual support

preparation of patients desiring to receive sacraments
-
communication with the priest about those requesting Confession and Anointing of the Sick

distribution of the Holy Eucharist

schedule a weekly Mass at each nursing home or prepare a Communion Service

This extensive ministry is only possible with the valuable help of some 30 well-trained lay Ministers of the Eucharist. Their faithful dedication reveals the depth of their calling in spreading the Kingdom of God. |
