Writing to Pray

September 16-18, 2011

There is an adage that “Writing is thinking on paper,” but we could easily say that “writing is praying on paper.”  The act of writing, either by hand or on the computer, requires us to slow our thinking down and the space between our thoughts and words gives God the chance to “slip” in.  During this weekend retreat we will explore journal writing and writing in response to sacred image, biblical figures, music, scripture, spiritual topics and other writings.  Participants will explore different ways to enrich their prayer through writing.

Presenters: Both Marilyn McArthur and Sarah Yasin are founding members of the St. Peter’s Writers Group, a group formed to write, read and discuss topics that center on Catholic themes such as hope, grace, prayer, etc.  Both have published in a variety of ways.

Registration deadline: September 10, 2011

Arrival and departure times:  4:00 pm    Friday to Sunday after the noon meal.

Deposit: $30/person (non-refundable)

Cost: $140 (includes registration)

February 17-19, 2012

As we approach the Lenten season Father Andrew Costello, C.Ss.
