  Mindful Meditation Retreat

September 11, 2010

This meditative retreat offers participants a chance to intentionally step away from the stresses of daily life. Much of the retreat will be held in silence in order to decelerate the thinking mind and directly experience what happens when we stop. For date-specific retreat details, visit www.judygross.com.

Presenter: Judy Gross, MEd, has trained at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and is a 500 hour Professional Level yoga instructor. She teaches yoga/meditation and stress reduction/mindfulness classes in southern NH.

Merton and Nouwen:  Two Pioneers on the Path of Truth

September 17-19, 2010

Two of the most influential Christian writers of the 20th century, the American monk, Thomas Merton and the Dutch priest, Henri Nouwen, in fact moved on similar paths that even overlapped at times.  Henri Nouwen was profoundly influenced by Thomas Merton, and attempted to follow his example in many ways.  Merton’s creativity sparked many of Nouwen’s own innovations.  This retreat will explore the lives of both of these spiritual masters and focus on what Nouwen learned from Merton.  We will also be asking what both of them can teach us about contemplation, living in the world, and where to find God.

Presenter: Michael O'Laughlin was an assistant to Henri Nouwen when he taught at Harvard University.  He went on to write and edit several books and articles about Nouwen, including God’s Beloved: A Spiritual Biography of Henri Nouwen.

Arrival and departure times:  4:00 pm    Friday to Sunday after the noon meal.

Yours Are the Hands of Christ

 October 22-24, 2010

Have you ever taken a good, long look at your hands?  Over the course of centuries, Christians have been called to be the “hands, the feet, and the heart of Christ” in the world.  Today, this continues to be our challenge.  During this time of retreat, we will look more closely at the hands of Christ; hands that prayed, touched,  healed,  served, fed the hungry and hands that were pierced and wounded.  In looking more closely at Christ’s hands, we will be invited to look with gratitude at our own hands which continue to be Christ’s presence in the world today.

Presenter: Sister Helene Cote, p.m.

Looking at the Lights and Darks in Our Lives.
January 21-23, 2011

We often hear people say “put God in the center of your life”, but some of us find that difficult. Our past, our relationships, and daily life too often get in the way. This weekend, in order to maintain a balance with God in our center, we will take time to think about the “darks” and “lights” of our lives. As we reflect, we will create a quilt block to use as a reminder that we never walk alone.   All materials will be provided, no sewing experience needed!

Presenter: Kathy Hill  Kathy has a Masters of Education from Antioch College. She is a former high school teacher  and taught CCD for 25 years at Sacred Heart Parish in Greenville, NH. She retired after 35 years in education. She is currently employed as an administrative assistant for a small, local business.  Kathy enjoys quilting with friends to create items for church fundraisers.

Registration deadline:  January 15, 2011

Arrival and departure times:  4:00 pm Friday to Sunday after the noon meal.

Deposit: $30/person (non-refundable)
